“A gem cannot be polished without friction, nor a man perfected without trials.” -Lucius Annaeus Seneca
If we had our pick we would choose a life without any difficulties but with all the rewards.
In the modern world many things can be had in the click of a button. If we want something from Amazon it can be delivered to us almost instantly.
If we want a movie we just sit on the coach and it appears on our TV. Don’t get me wrong, I love all of these things.
It makes life much more efficient.
The only problem is that it has trained us to think that we should never have to wait.
When we are used to receiving things instantly we can get bogged down in life when we set a goal and vision in our mind and it doesn’t come to pass immediately.
It can be tempting to give up when you don’t see success right away. It’s at this moment when trials start to appear that you have a decision to make.
How bad do you really want it? Are you willing to go through the obstacles to attain what you truly desire?
It should not be our goal to go through life avoiding obstacles and difficulty.
Comfort can be enticing but it keeps us stagnant.
One thing that I’ve learned in my life is to embrace the moments where I am experiencing great difficulty.
It may not be fun in the moment but I have seen time and time again what happens when you keep pushing forward regardless of how much you may want to stop.
So don’t let momentary setbacks hold you back.
Recognize that the trials are necessary. It is part of the journey. It’s a sign that you are moving in the right direction.
This is so true. It has become an "all about ME", and instant gratification world.
Great writing Luke, keep it up!
